HENDERSON COUNTY

Henderson County has strong agricultural roots in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The county leads NC in apple production and ranks among the top producers nationwide. From late July through mid-November, orchards invite visitors to pick apples, pluck pumpkins from the patch, wind through corn mazes and savor apple cider doughnuts. Hard cideries press juice from local apples and ferment it into a variety of craft ciders.

Henderson County wine country received federal designation as the Crest of the Blue Ridge American Viticultural Area in 2019. Wineries produce classic wines from European vinifera and French-American hybrid grapes, as well as sweeter wines made from native grapes.

The nursery and greenhouse industry also plays a significant role in Henderson County’s agricultural profile. Each Memorial Day weekend, Garden Jubilee turns Hendersonville’s Main Street into a plant-lover’s paradise with several blocks of plants, yard art and outdoor accessories. Hendersonville restaurants specialize in farm-to-table goodness with seasonal menus showcasing fresh, local ingredients.
